Three-chamber septic tanks are reliable primary wastewater treatment systems, characterized by passive operation, stability, and low maintenance costs. They are used for the primary treatment of blackwater from WC discharges in domestic or equivalent installations.
The tank configuration forces the effluent to flow slowly through the internal liquid mass, allowing settling of heavier solids and separation of lighter materials (such as oils and greases). During this process, anaerobic fermentation occurs, leading to breakdown and partial transformation of suspended solids into dissolved and colloidal matter.
The effluent leaving the system has a low concentration of solids, mostly transformed into stable compounds.
Although septic tanks are generally used only as replacement units in existing systems, some local authorities still authorize their installation.
Three chamber biological septic tanks
The three-chamber biological septic tanks are primary treatment systems for domestic and similar wastewater, designed for residential buildings, communities, and collective facilities. They comply with UNI EN 12566-1 and Italian Legislative Decree 152/2006, ensuring primary sedimentation and anaerobic sludge digestion.
Made of high-strength polyethylene (PE), these tanks use three successive compartments for settling, separation, and clarification. They are ideal for homes, apartment buildings, schools, and campsites, providing durability, odour tightness, and simplified maintenance.
